Possible Causes of a Non-Working Planetary Mixer

My planetary mixer is not working! What should I do?

If you are not familiar with working on the unit, please contact a service agent. You can check our service agent map here to find a possible service agent to service your unit.

If unit does not turn on:
  1. Check the power supply and breaker box has not tripped, and check the incoming voltage is proper.
  2. Safety guard (if applicable) is open.
  3. Bowl is lowered down.
  4. Emergency red button switch (if applicable) is engaged. Make sure to twist the button switch to disengage it.
  5. Timer (if applicable) is not set.
  6. Open panels and check to make sure there are no loose or damaged wires.
  7. See if the motor capacitor is defective.
  8. Check if the centrifugal governor opens.
  9. Check to see if the motor is burned out. Possible cause of this is bowl mixing load overload over time. Please double check with the capacity chart available in the manual.
If the unit turns on, but has low power or not work on any speed, possible causes include:
  1. Safety guard (if applicable) is open.
  2. Bowl is lowered down.
  3. Emergency red button switch (if applicable) is engaged. Make sure to twist the button switch to disengage it.
  4. Timer (if applicable) is not set.
  5. Damage to the key(s) on the worm gear shaft.
  6. Damage to the worm gear itself.
  7. Bowl overload. Please double check with the capacity chart available in the manual.
  8. Damage to the clutch or worm shaft.
  9. Damage to the transmission shaft.
  10. The machine is jammed.
If only the lowest speed does not work, possible causes include:
  1. One or more gears may be incorrectly installed.
  2. Damage on the brass coupling of the shaft.
  3. One or more sheet springs of the sleeve guard may be damaged or incorrectly installed.
If only the second speed does not work, possible causes include:
  1. Second speed gear is damaged.
  2. Lower part of the clutch is damaged.
  3. Shift fork is damaged.
If neither second of third speed works, the gears may have been damaged by changing speeds under load. Do not change speeds while the machine is running. Please stop the machine before switching speeds.
